Dragons are Tymaera's most powerful species. Though they are not nearly as numerous as once they were they still exert an undeniable influence upon the lives of all other beings sharing this world.
Besides the obvious fact that Blackjack *is* a dragon, other dragons than he play an important role in the world specific to the Daemonslayers.
So in this gallery are listed pictures of actual dragon characters from The Daemonslayers, along with examples of Tymaeran dragons in all their myriad colours and forms.

Found only in the Icy Wastes in the deep south of Caevalonia, very little is known about the Dharkal bloodline save that they are flightless and their blood runs at temperatures far below zero. Legend has it that they guard the ruins and arcane secrets of an ancient city that was once the capital of a glorious civilisation during the Age of Immortals. No one has substantiated this tale, however, for their lands are inhospitable and unexplored: for much of the year the suns barely rise and besides the lack of food danger is ever present in the form of demons that wander from the Ruined Land far to the north west.

Known better as Twilight Shadow, or just Twilight, Saranath is a big, mean dragon who terrorises a remote part of the Northern Reaches despite the populace's best efforts to dispose of her. She likes treasure and visitors, provided she can have the latter for dinner. She gets on surprisingly well with other dragons (unusual given most dragons are solitary) probably because large, dangerous dragons are few and far between so far into the Empire.

Having seen what happened to many of her unfortunate kin within the Empire during the dark days leading up to the Dragon Wars Saranath, unless challenged, will not show hostility to other dragons. If necessary, she will even go out of her way to help them. Provided she's in a good mood, she'll extend this lack of hostility to dragonkin and dragonthralls (individuals magically bound for whatever reason to the service of one dragon), but not so much those known as dragonfriend, since there are no bonds forcing such people to remain loyal to a dragon and she has seen that loyalty betrayed. With these exceptions aside, Saranath's hatred for humans, elves and those who fought against dragons alongside them has remained unabated throughout the centuries.

To survive so long, so deep within the Empire (the Northern Reaches are only a few hundred miles from the capital, Fortune City), Saranath is a canny beast. She moves around a lot, always taking care to raid settlements far from her lair, keeping the pattern of attacks random. She knows some magic and takes care to steer well clear of wizards. The reason for her name, besides her dusky colour, is that the runes engraved on her wings are activated by daylight to cast an aura of invisibility about her. A slight imperfection with the spell means the gentle glow of her runes can be seen, but it's difficult to spot unless you know what you're looking for. Only as the suns set will she become visible. The spell is permanent, so she can't chose to become visible during the day (unless she's in a cave or some such, since obviously sunlight won't reach there!).

... because 'flying along through a bunch of clouds' didn't sound quite so epic.

So, here's Syrax again. Looks like he's planning to raze something to the ground... or maybe introduce you to a burning, corroding acidfirey death. Either way it makes one wonder if that curse denying him this form's really that bad a thing for those of us that are small and taste good charcoaled XD

This started as a quick charcoal sketch which I scanned and tidied up a bit in Photoshop. Then I tidied some more, and some more, and some more... Then x hours later I ended up with this. Apart from the cloud brush there was no fancypants photoshoppery here - just the watercolour brush, the oil brush and the original charcoal picture.
(that tends to be governed more by Bloodline or individual leanings) Tymaeran dragons angle more toward 'lawful' and 'chaotic' respectively ... it just means this guy's probably not going to randomly bite your head off for the fun of it (unless you give him a good reason to). And he wouldn't feel sorry for you if he did - gold dragons are notoriously up their own arses about other species being inferior to dragons (rather like reds, but with better tempers).

Dawnbringer. Legendary as one of Kalganos's first 'children'. Tsingsagroth was the first golden dragon. To start with, legend had it that the first twelve dragons were of no colour and only earned their colouration through their actions. They then passed their colour on to their offspring and so the different colours of dragons were created..
Legend has it that, during the stuggles of the gods in the Age of Immortals, the dark gods banded together behind the God of Dusk and sealed the sky with eternal twilight, Six of the twelve first dragons did not care, but the other six did. The strongest of them flew up to touch the sky and, with his great claws, tore the veil of dusk, sundering night and bringing light to the world once more. As the sunlight streamed through it's rays touched his scales making them shine like gold. And so the first golden dragon came to be.
